The Post Harvest, Industrialization and Grain Quality Laboratory - or simply the Grain Laboratory - is a support body for undergraduate and postgraduate education, research and extension in the areas of drying, storage, quality control and industrialization. Grain The Laboratory is linked to the Department of Agroindustrial Science and Technology (DCTA) of the Faculty of Agronomy "Eliseu Maciel" (FAEM) of the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel).
In recent years, a great deal of research work has been carried out at the Grain Laboratory. The official technical recommendations for rice research for the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina are based on UFPel's work in the area, as well as much of what is done for other grains.
Generate and disseminate scientific and technological knowledge related to the postharvest area, industrialization and quality of grains and derivatives, through teaching, research and extension activities, aiming to promote food safety, safe eating, the development of new products and, above all, strengthen grain production chains.
